    The parietal lobes are located near the upper back area of the brain, just behind the frontal lobe and above the occipital lobe. While they don’t get as much attention as some other brain regions, they play an essential role in how we interact with and make sense of the world around us.

    These lobes are responsible for processing sensory information—touch, temperature, pain—and integrating that information to help us understand spatial relationships, body orientation, and visual awareness. They help us distinguish right from left, recognize objects by feel, and guide voluntary movements in a purposeful, goal-directed way. The parietal lobes also play a key role in reading, writing, and performing basic math tasks.

    When functioning properly, this part of the brain helps you move smoothly through daily life, combining sensory input and mental focus to carry out coordinated actions. But when it’s not working well, even simple tasks can become difficult.

    Just like other areas of the brain, the parietal lobes rely on constant, clear communication with the rest of the body through the spinal cord and nervous system. Sensory information travels from your skin, joints, and muscles up the spinal cord to be processed in the parietal lobes.     If the spine—particularly the cervical or upper thoracic areas—is misaligned, it can interfere with this flow of information. Over time, this can lead to confusion with spatial orientation, trouble with coordination, and difficulty integrating sensory input accurately.
