Neck & Back Pain Treatment in Tigard
Does This Sound Familiar?
Your symptoms began after lifting, sports, an accident, or another physical event.
Sitting, standing, sleeping, working, or certain movements seem to aggravate it.
There was no single moment when something happened, but your neck or back has become increasingly uncomfortable over time.
What Comes Next
Where You Feel Pain Doesn't Always Tell the Whole Story
If the same pain or stiffness keeps returning, that can be another reason to look more closely at how the area is functioning rather than assuming the painful spot tells the whole story.
Where You Feel It
The location and pattern of your pain or stiffness.
How It Moves
How your neck, back, and spinal joints move during evaluation.
What Aggravates It
The positions, movements, or activities that tend to make your symptoms more noticeable.
A More Focused Evaluation
How BeWell Evaluates Neck & Back Pain
Before deciding what may need attention, Dr. Crokin starts by understanding what you have been experiencing and looking at how your neck or back is moving and functioning.
The goal is to gather enough information to make a more informed decision about what deserves attention in your case.
01
Share Your Story
Those details help provide context for the examination.
02
Evaluate Movement & Function
03
Understand the Findings
The evaluation may include:
Orthopedic Findings
Clinical testing that provides additional information about the area being evaluated.
Neurological Screening, When Appropriate
Depending on your symptoms and examination findings, Dr. Crokin may also evaluate neurological factors such as balance, coordination, or sensory function.
Care Guided by What We Find
Findings Guide the Care
The evaluation is not simply something that happens before a predetermined treatment. What Dr. Crokin finds helps determine what deserves attention and how he approaches your care.
That means two people with similar neck or back pain may not need exactly the same thing.
Supporting Therapies
Additional therapies may be used when they make sense for your situation. Not every patient needs every therapy. The point is to use the tools that make sense based on what the evaluation shows.
Each time I go in, we work on just what I need. Dr. Crokin also provides exercises and stretching for me to do at home.

The Goal Is Better Function
Move Better. Function Better. Stay Active.
Reducing pain matters. But for most people, the bigger goal is being able to move through everyday life with less interference from their neck or back.
At BeWell, care is intended to support the way you move and function so you can work, sleep, exercise, take care of your family, and stay involved in the activities that matter to you.

An Evaluation Comes Before a Treatment Plan
You do not need to know exactly what is causing your neck or back pain before you come in. That is one reason the evaluation exists.
Dr. Crokin starts by listening to what has been happening, examining the relevant findings, and determining whether BeWell is the right place to help.

Frequently Asked Questions About Neck & Back Pain
Neck and back pain can have many contributing factors. Depending on the person, these may include muscle or joint irritation, injury, repetitive physical stress, prolonged positions, movement limitations, or other musculoskeletal factors.Rather than assuming one explanation from the location of your pain alone, Dr. Crokin evaluates your history, movement, and relevant findings to better understand your individual situation.
Recurring symptoms can have different explanations. Repeated physical demands, movement habits, previous injuries, and how an area is functioning may all be worth considering. At BeWell, recurring pain is a reason to look more closely at the pattern rather than assume every flare-up has exactly the same explanation.
No. Some symptoms begin after an obvious lifting incident, accident, sports injury, or other physical event.Others develop gradually without one clear starting point. Posture, repetitive activity, long periods in one position, and everyday physical demands can all be useful information during an evaluation.
Some people notice more stiffness or discomfort after remaining in one position for a long time or after particular movements and activities. That pattern is useful information. During your evaluation, Dr. Crokin will want to understand how positions and activities such as sitting, standing, walking, lying down, bending, lifting, or neck movements affect your symptoms.
Imaging can be very useful when structural findings need to be investigated, but imaging does not always provide a complete explanation for neck or back symptoms. Some imaging findings can also appear in people with and without pain. For that reason, imaging is generally considered alongside your symptoms, history, examination, and other clinical findings rather than in isolation.
Chiropractic care may include spinal manipulation or adjustment as part of an approach aimed at improving pain and function.Research suggests spinal manipulation may provide modest improvements in pain and function for some people with low-back pain. Research also suggests potential benefit for some types of neck pain, although the evidence varies.Whether chiropractic care is appropriate for you depends on your individual evaluation. At BeWell, care may also include soft-tissue therapy and other supporting therapies when Dr. Crokin determines they are appropriate.
Consider an evaluation when symptoms are persistent, keep returning, are getting in the way of normal activities, or are not improving as expected. If symptoms suggest that another type of evaluation or care is more appropriate, Dr. Crokin’s approach is to make that recommendation or referral rather than simply proceed with chiropractic treatment.
